[Ugh. This one isn't a good type matchup, but at least Saturn knows in advance not to use Dark moves on it. He can stick to Water for the STAB and hope Sharpedo can hold out, and bring in Crobat if he needs to swap out. Give Sharpedo a chance!

"It was like something I'm not telling you about!! Mienshao—!"

Mienshao uses Fake Out like she usually does, but the Rough Skin gets her in return. Then, cocky and trying to obliterate Sharpedo, she tries to use High Jump Kick, misses, and crashes...

"No...!"

[Ooh ouch. HIGH JUMP KICK'LL GET YA. Saturn follows that up with Liquidation, hoping to end this or at least lower Mienshao's DEF for the next turn.]

Perhaps it's a critical hit that does it. Mienshao is down for the count, slumping onto the ground. Gwen pulls at her hair in irritation.

"Grrr...! I... I knew that would happen! I was going easy on you because I was supporting your determination, of course! Here, Sharpedo..."

She comes to heal Sharpedo's slight damage before they continue. See! All better!

Haha. Is that so? Well then, thank you, Gwen. That's certainly more than I deserved . . . I'm sorry for meddling in your private affairs. Though you did bring it up first. Anyway. I hope you find someone who appreciates you as fully as you wish for.

She goes off to the side, flopping down on the subway seat. The path to the next car is open.

Sharpedo seems determined to stick it out!

In the next car, you are greeted by... a man on a motorcycle. Really? Inside of the train?

"I'm a heartbreaker... My name... Charles. Riding a bike and becoming the wind fits a bad boy like me. Not getting tangled up in a clingy wet blanket like Ingo. I've moved on, and so should he. He's better off forgetting all of that."

. . . Oh, please. You aren't half as charming even as that exaggerated depressed Shadow of his out there. Speaking of which, why did we start with him and then move on to this lot . . .

"Don't know, don't care. None of my business. Took some effort, but that guy's supposed to be completely out of my hair now... So being here at all is cramping my style. Those nagging vibes are dragging down my charm even now..."

A red-striped Basculin pops out of his Pokeball. Fish fight!!

[FISH FIGHT! Well Water vs Water is whatever. He'll stick to Dark.

Sharpedo, Swagger!

[This might bite him. So it goes with this move. But hopefully Basculin's Water moves not being very effective on Sharpedo will mitigate the risk.]

Basculin is confused, but manages to get off a Take Down with the attack boost, doing a decent amount of damage to Sharpedo. But with the recoil and the rough skin, plus the confusion... yeah, Basculin is going to take itself out by next turn.

[Oof, well, that paid off, but poor Sharpedo. Still, they won! They get in a Night Slash if they need to, but that's that, and Saturn strokes Sharpedo's fin in congratulations once it returns to his side.]

There. Feel free to go home now.

"The life of a heartbreaker... On to the next one."

He wedges his motorcycle into the gap by the side doors, clearing the path towards the door to the next car.

"Here—a memento from me."

He tosses over a Full Restore so Saturn can heal his Pokemon, instead of doing it himself like the others. Asshole.

[GOOD. Now Saturn can feel free to roll his eyes rather than feel obliged to thank Charles! Fucking Charles! He catches the Full Restore (awkwardly, and he almost drops it, but he saves it) and heads for the door, stopping there to treat Sharpedo before walking through.

On to the next one!]

In this car is a woman in a Pearl Clan uniform.

"I won't stand for it. A strange foreigner like him coming in and stealing all of my thunder. I was a fan of Pokemon before he ever arrived, you know! But I read the room and listened to the clan, and I politely didn't bring any in! On top of that he's dangerously loud, and doesn't know any proper etiquette, and won't stop wearing those rags... No tact at all!"

. . . And? What will you do about it? If you won't stand for it, what will you do?

She considers for a moment.

"I'll just have to show him and everyone else... That I'm the number one Bergmite expert! Bergmite, go!"

She sends Bergmite out of her Pokeball.

Ha . . . I see. Go on, Sharpedo!

[Not a lot to say about this type matchup, and no ambiguity about what type Bergmite is. At least Sharpedo is resistant to Ice!

He is not fucking around with Swagger this time, just going for Liquidation in hopes of lowering Bergmite's DEF.]

Bergmite's defense goes down. Bergmite will attempt a mighty Blizzard to overpower Sharpedo!!

...But Blizzard misses, of course. So it's wide open to be attacked again. This Bergmite is doomed.

Indeed, Bergmite collapses in defeat.

"Ooohhhh... But at least my love for Bergmite is still the strongest..."

Sharpedo doesn't even need to be healed, so she just goes to sit on the bench automatically.

[Saturn follows her, though he remains standing this time.]

. . . All of those feelings you have about Ingo . . . that's fine. In the end, it's only that he isn't someone you especially like. There are worse things in the world than to dislike someone, or be disliked yourself . . . well, that's easy enough to say. But it's true. He thinks of all of you as people he hurt somehow. And maybe he did, and obviously you all hurt him in return. But only in the way of people who come together for a while in a way they weren't suited for, and have to learn that the hard way. That isn't a failure of his. Or yours. Except Charles. It was a failure of Charles. Have you met that man? He's in the other car—anyway.
