It's fine to pair up with your brother when you're a little kid, but when you have a girlfriend, the choice is obvious, isn't it?!"

[ <---- a loser without a brother or a girlfriend, trying to be empathetic and failing. ]

"Shut up!! No way!! You're not going to get away with saying that!!"

Her rage switch has instantly flipped, and she tosses her Pokeball without further hesitation.

"Mienshao, go!"

Mienshao pops out with a haughty cry... but we all know Munna can get some good modifier bonuses against a Fighting-type.

[hijinked]

So... that would be a yes, I presume?

[ continuing to have zero empathy over here.

Anyway, yeah, that's a pokemon he knows this time! ]

Fine then. Munna, it's time! Start this off with Psychic!

[ anyway Lear clearly flubbed this by making her way too mad because: 2d6+2 = 5 ]

"Not so fast! You know what to do, Mienshao!"

It's a Mienshao. Of course it's using Fake Out turn one. Munna flinches, unable to get off the Psychic move! Mienshao uses Detect next, just rubbing it in.

[ ohhh yeah he should've seen that coming! Good job, Lear, way to slack off and get Munna hurt! ]

Tch...!

[ by rights he should probably swap Pokemon, but also... he's always been the sort of person who wants to see things through to the end, and maybe Munna is the same way? He should at least give it the option...! ]

Munna! Do you want to see this through, or take a break?

[ this is Pokemon power of friendship-style, he's still figuring it out bit by bit. ]

Munna has lost his confidence... He droops down with a low noise, hoping maybe one of Lear's other Pokemon can take over for him.

[hijinked]

[ honestly, valid. he gives Munna a glance, but he doesn't look upset by this. ]

Fine then. There's no need to look so upset--you've done nothing wrong. The mistake was mine.

[ ANYWAY, ROUND TWO!! ]

Staraptor, you're up! Aerial Ace, hit it hard and fast!

[ 2d6+2 (flying + STAB)! = 8! ]

Mienshao is already in battle, and used Detect last turn, so she can't do Fake Out or Detect again. Aerial Ace gets her good, but she retaliates with a High Jump Kick, that actually connects this time! It does a good amount of damage... but another Aerial Ace is sure to take her out.

[hijinked]

[ Oof, that's a brutal attack--but Lear can tell that she's on the ropes, and so he presses forward, arm thrown out to the side. ]

Staraptor, once more! Aerial Ace!

[ Avenge Munna! ]

Mienshao collapses, defeated.

"Ooohhh... Fine! But you only won because you used two different Pokemon!"

Gwen sulkily comes up to heal both Munna and Staraptor, as is tradition in the battle facilities.

[hijinked]

[ SCOWLS. ]

Munna would have rallied and handled your Pokemon just fine if it had come down to it.

[ SO THERE!! He crosses his arms and huffs at that. ]

[derailer]

"Only because he has the type advantage!!"

She storms off to the side to sit down, leaving the path open into the next car.

[hijinked]

[ rolls his eyes! And to Munna: ]

Don't listen to her. You clearly can handle yourself.

[ But he's not going to argue with her, honestly. Too self-important for that.

ONWARDS to the next car! ]

In the next car, you are greeted by... a man on a motorcycle. Really? Inside of the train?

"I'm a heartbreaker... My name... Charles. Riding a bike and becoming the wind fits a bad boy like me. Not getting tangled up in a clingy wet blanket like Ingo. I've moved on, and so should he. He's better off forgetting all of that."

[ ........ ew. ]

... Don't talk to me. Just send out your Pokemon, would you?

"Don't gotta be like that. Basculin, let's go!"

He sends out a red-striped Basculin!

[ Basculin, huh..... well, he doesn't have anything that has the advantage against that, so...!

Munna gets to try again. ]

Alright, here we go...! Munna, let's begin with a strong offensive. Psybeam!

[ best laid plans, etc, etc, anyway it's a 3. ]

[derailer]

"Not a chance! Let's get those engines going, Basculin!"

Basculin uses Crunch—it's super effective! And it lowers Munna's defenses too. The next Crunch is going to take Munna out!

[hijinked]

[ ... khhhh all of his battles are going so poorly. Is Lear... bad at battling now??? Is he out of practice?? Oh my god he has to get back to Pasio STAT.



anyway he's withdrawing Munna. ]

Eurgh...

F-fine, that was just a warm-up...!

[ pissy baby Lear.

Anyway, he only has one Pokemon who isn't weak to water (and isn't Hoopa), so...! ]

Staraptor, again! Open with a Double Team, quickly!

[ this time, he's going to be a bit more sensible with his approach. Since everything is out to get him.

2d6+1 for STAB (eventually) = 10!]

Basculin was already preparing to use Crunch again, so he uses it here too, missing. So unfair!

[ so rude!! the rudest! ]

Tch, and now--aerial ace!

[ he's still smarting, honestly, from how badly he's been failing Munna. This is character development (???) ]

Having already been hit a little by Munna, Basculin goes down.

"Ah... So it goes. Here. Have a little memento from me, then."

Charles tosses Lear a couple of Full Restores before bringing his motorcycle off to the side.

[ he catches those, and looks sulky that he even needs them. But. Well. It's fine.

Time to tend to his Pokemon. ]

... No dramatic spiels or anything to leave me with before I carry on?

"I'm a heartbreaker... My name... Charles. I ride like the wind. I've already gotten rid of Ingo from my life. I've even let go of my grudge about the damages his brother owes me... Because I'm too much of a bad boy to get lawyers involved. I'd rather just get out of this joint and into a place with freer vibes."
