Basculin uses Crunch—it's super effective! And it lowers Munna's defenses too. The next Crunch is going to take Munna out!

"I'm a heartbreaker... My name... Charles. I ride like the wind. I've already gotten rid of Ingo from my life. I've even let go of my grudge about the damages his brother owes me... Because I'm too much of a bad boy to get lawyers involved. I'd rather just get out of this joint and into a place with freer vibes."

In this car is a woman in a Pearl Clan uniform.

"I won't stand for it. A strange foreigner like him coming in and stealing all of my thunder. I was a fan of Pokemon before he ever arrived, you know! But I read the room and listened to the clan, and I politely didn't bring any in! On top of that he's dangerously loud, and doesn't know any proper etiquette, and won't stop wearing those rags... No tact at all!"

That man is far too nice to purposefully try to steal anyone's thunder, so you must simply have had cold feet for too long. There's nobody to blame but yourself.

Anyway! Well! He doesn't have anything good against ice (in fact most of his team is at distinct disadvantage), but considering how much he's clubbed things with Munna, he's giving it a break.

Time to play things a little risky. ]

Donphan, you're up! Hit it hard and fast with fire fang!

[ sometimes you just gotta risk being weak to a Pokémon, it's fine.

Bergmite decides not to risk Blizzard this time, instead going for Ice Shard to get a quick super-effective hit in! That's gotta hurt!

...But Bergmite really isn't that strong, and succumbs easily to the Fire Fang afterwards. It was a good try.

[ It was a good try! Lear just props his hands on his hips when the battle is won, nodding in some satisfaction. ]

All right then. That is more like it.

[derailer]

"Ooohhh... The life of a Bergmite fan isn't always easy..."

But she's not so much of a sore loser that she won't come over and heal Donphan with an old-fashioned topical potion.

You move into the next car to see—well. He can tell you himself.

"Oh! My! Almighty Sinnoh! To think that the Great Melli would be forced into the presence of such a blockhead! Where do I even begin with that haggard old man?!"

Melli has a Skuntank with him, already out and about, with no trace of a Pokeball. It grunts in acknowledgment.

[ he opens his mouth and Lear immediately decides he doesn't like him. ]

Hmph. Don't even bother, then.

Donphan, you're up. We'll begin on the offensive--earthquake!

[ He knows this Pokemon, he's ready this time probably!

2d6+2 = 9! ]

"At least listen to me!! Such disrespect—Skuntank, don't allow him to get away with this!"

Skuntank uses Night Slash, which strikes Donphan in a critical hit! ...But there's no way he can hold out against Earthquake. He faints quickly all the same.

"Noooo...!"

[ damn u critical hits-- it's fine though, they still won which means Lear can be all smug about it. ]

Good. The less time I have to listen to you people, the better.
