[ THIS IS HARD... she hates backtracking, but maybe it's better to save the heal? It would normally regenerate after a certain amount of time, but...

Okay fine. Let's go back to get Dedenne healed and THEN keep going forward, straight ahead. She's ready. ]

[derailer]

You do this successfully. Congratulations to Dedenne!

As you move forward past where you made it before, the earth rumbles underneath you. An earthquake?! No... It's more localized. Something moving.

[fujimaru]

--?!

[ Oh boy. Oh no. Oh heck.

Time to maybe follow it?? ]

[derailer]

By following it, you end up right next to Drilbur when it pops out of the ground—it's surprised by you, immediately ready to fight!

So what exactly are you going to do about this, feral Ritsuka?!

[fujimaru]

Have some consideration!!

[ Which is to say,

she roundhouse kicks the thing in the face. ]

[derailer]

You surprise Drilbur even more, and it reels with the impact, even though you do minimal damage to it.

Dedenne leaps off your shoulder and lands on the Drilbur's head, shrieking. You figure she must be begging to take the fight for you. She is shocking it reflexively, even though it's a Ground-type, and the shocks do nothing.

[fujimaru]

[ WELL. She's not going to get in the way of her Pokemon friend, and at some point she will suggest that perhaps using Fairy type moves is a better idea.

Anyway 2d6+2 = 10. ]

[derailer]

Oh right. Once Dedenne calms down from her hysteria, her Play Rough is so vicious it is a critical hit! And this time, she leaves just enough HP for Drilbur to be caught in a Pokeball. Dedenne looks up at you, expectant (of both praise and of you throwing the Pokeball).

[fujimaru]

--oh! Right!

[ She's going to throw the Pokeball and then fuss over Dedenne instead. ]

Are you okay? I'm sorry! I'm not used to dealing with something like that--do you need another heal? You were really cool!

[derailer]

Dedenne shakes her head, and puts her little paw on the closed Pokeball. Drilbur has been caught, but his HP is very low now! He's the one who needs healing!

[fujimaru]

Yeah, I can definitely fix this guy up... you did good. Thanks for dealing with the situation, and with me.

[ This time, she's just going to blow her heal spell on Drilbur. This is fine, probably. ]

[derailer]

Drilbur is fully healed now! Congratulations! Dedenne squeaks happily.

Now you can finally continue forward again. Through the fog, you can see one of the large blue rocks on your right hand side. As you follow the path to the left... you see another of those floating rocks blocking your path up.

[fujimaru]

Guess this really is just an old fashioned puzzle mazes, huh...

[ Time to see if there's a way she can nudge this floating rock to the blue rock, as what happened before. ]

[derailer]

It works just like you expect it to—pushing the floating rock towards the other blue rock will make them connect, clearing your path. Proceeding forward, the path branches forward further or to the right.

[fujimaru]

[ When in doubt, always pick going forward! ]

[derailer]

The path curves around, and you can see more glowing rocks ahead of you. But also, you suddenly hear a noise—like... ripping? Grinding? It's faint, but it echoes through the cave, so it's hard to determine where it's coming from.

[fujimaru]

If it's another wannabe jumpscare, I swear I'm gonna...

[ Obviously KEEP GOING IN THAT DIRECTION. WHO DO YOU THINK SHE IS ]

[derailer]

Your vision is abruptly covered by a shadow. Please tell me you move out of the way before whatever this is lands directly on your face.

[fujimaru]

--?!

[ She does in fact dive out of the way. She might not know how Pokemon really works, but she does know to not just stand there and let herself get (potentially) squashed. ]

[derailer]

It's a Ferroseed that is plummeting down right where you were standing. It doesn't hit you, but it still seems prepared for a Pokemon battle!

[fujimaru]

Are you kidding me--

[ She does not kick this one, at least. Dedenne please be proud of her,

But she does take a step back automatically to give herself the space to scan the thing. She knows about type advantages, just, not Pokemon types, ]

[derailer]

Ferroseed is Grass and Steel type. It resists Electric and Fairy, so it might be a better idea to use Drilbur for this one—even if Drilbur is weak to Grass.

[fujimaru]

[ So it's basically like a Berserker fight, huh... well, that's fine. She's got some experience with that, at least. It's time to let Drilbur out and hope it's not too mad at her for the previous circumstances. Bulbapedia tells me its Ability means it will either get to go faster or it will hit harder, so let's see what happens.

With Earthquake.

2d6+2 = 13. ]

Obviously you get the most points for using Earthquake in Ingo's palace. Obviously.

Not only does Drilbur wipe the floor with this Ferroseed, and not only is Ferroseed able to be captured, but also Drilbur has gained a level! He has a permanent +1 now.

[fujimaru]

--Hey! Good job, you!

[ Ritsuka is one of those people who does not nickname her Pokemon,

but she does give Drilbur a little pat on the head. Good job, buddy. ]
