You rise above the clouds towards the stars, as if walking on an aurora. The platform you eventually reach has strange shapes drawn across it, their meaning unknown to you.
The divine Pokemon, Arceus, is standing at the other end of this platform.
Saturn approaches, his footsteps slowing with awe. Even if this is Ingo's Palace Arceus, the effect is no less powerful. He doesn't balk, but he approaches with careful, respectful steps across the platform.]
Arceus speaks, seemingly understanding what you are thinking.
"Thou standest in the presence of the Original One. Though I am but a fragment, I am no imaginary figment. A piece that remains within a Sneasler, who remains within a human. The same way the stalwart guardian of willpower remains within thee. I have seen the determination with which thou hast progressed. Speak the goal thou intendest to achieve."
You are holding, suddenly, a golden glowing orb in your hands. If you are to throw it, another one will instantly form. Instinctively you understand that you should try to hit Arceus with these "balms".
"If thou canst overcome this trial, thy quest may receive my blessing."
For this sequence you will alternate between engaging directly with Arceus (no rolls, just vibes) and battling it with your Pokemon (using the rolls as established before). Three successful rolls will mean you have BESTED GOD and are free.
[What?! Why is God so weird? But all right. He knows what to do, so . . . it's time to dash towards Arceus and try to hurl this balm at him! Dammit, what if he made it this far and now he's going to need to be in better shape for this?!]
He dodges, but not fast enough, and he gets hit. Shit! That stings! At least now he knows it's coming, and he'll be a little better prepared next time, but aaaaaaa. He surely can't just get Toxicroak to do this either if it's meant to prove his resolve; he has to get in close enough to throw another one. Take this! He has to just grin and bear this pain!]
Thankfully, the pain of each sparkling missile is minimal. But it will add up to be very annoying cumulative pain, so it's best to avoid it.
This repeats a few times, but surely you manage to get in the rhythm of dodging and throwing, at least more than this initial surprised attempt. Eventually, Arceus seems dazed and tired from the repeated balms. You showed your own resolve as a human. But now would be the perfect opportunity to send out a Pokemon to fight!
Oh no, Sharpedo. The Legend Plate Arceus holds makes its Judgment always super-effective; Sharpedo is assaulted by a powerful Grass-type move, and now that Arceus is Grass-type, Liquidation doesn't do much. Sharpedo will absolutely faint if nothing is done in this situation!
He recalls Sharpedo before it faints and brings out Crobat. Maybe he can work around the issue of this being God with the advantages of speed, confusion, and poison.
This seems to be a valid strategy. God is just so confused! It hurts itself in its confusion. And, still being Grass type, it's particularly vulnerable to Crobat right now.
[YEAH THAT SEEMS LIKE IT'D BE, FOR THE BEST. Saturn notices the circle and begins to rush out of the way; he's a little too slow, and Crobat wheels around and dives at her with her superior speed to drag him out of range bodily.]
It looks like some kind of localized meteor shooting down at the circle. The meteor is at least slow in its approach. And Arceus remains still as it aims, so once you're out of range, throwing balms will be easy.
[Whoa. Saturn has to tear his eyes away from watching that to throw the balms; it's wild?! Arceus is wild?! But he has to get through this! Crobat saved his skin just now! So he dashes over to where there's an opening and begins throwing again. Take this, God!]
The move is critically effective—Crobat is fast, and moves before Arceus is able to change type again. Of course, when it does get the opportunity it's going to switch to Rock-type to rain down divine Judgment... just, Crobat had gotten the advantage early, and has a lot of those status effect tricks, so Arceus falters against Crobat's attacks eventually. Even though she took damage, she is victorious for this phase.
You can tell, because when Arceus concedes, it disappears entirely from view. How ominous... There's no way it's over just like that, right?
[But he doesn't recall her into her ball. Something isn't right. He just brings her close, stroking her head and stepping slowly forward, on his guard.]
You hear a noise like shattering glass behind you, a prickling crawling up your spine. If you're on your guard, it is very obvious that you need to watch out for something coming from that direction.
[Oh yeah. Ohhhhh no. Saturn darts away from where he's standing even before he turns to look, Crobat swooping along with him and then putting herself between Saturn and that sound.]
