Alakazam turns around, and tilts his head, legs crossed in midair. He can tell that you two definitely aren't human or Pokemon, and he is trying to decide if he should care about that, or distrust you.
Alakazam is cautious, but steps down onto solid ground as some sort of peace offering. He sees no signs of aggression in you, so he will accompany you for now.
Since your intentions really are kind, Alakazam has nothing to suspect, and you make it back through the town without incident. By the time you make it back to the Professor, though, Akari has arrived, standing nearby and chatting to him. She turns around as you approach.
"Oh, nice! It looks like you didn't need my help at all! That's cool!"
She rushes down the street to a hill at the end, where a battle court is set up. Zisu, a strong woman from the photos of this place, is here watching. Akari runs over to the far side of the court.
She was unconcerned about the matchup because she's sending out three Pokemon at once: the Hisuian forms of Typhlosion (Fire/Ghost), Samurott (Water/Dark), and Decidueye (Grass/Fighting).
[ Whimsicott is already out to play, and seems eager to cause problems on purpose alongside its valiant knight, Sirfetch'd!! With its little Pokemon cry, it will prepare for battle! Tynamo will hang back, for now. ]
Despite not being a Flying-type, Decidueye does know some Flying moves, so she manages to deal a good chunk of damage to Whimsicott before being taken out by the powerful Moonblasts.

Whimsicott would be super-effective against Decidueye with a Fairy-type move... She could make a 2d6+2 roll!
Sirfetch'd has Fighting-type moves that would be super-effective against Samurott—he could make a 2d6+2 roll too!
No one is super effective against Typhlosion in your party, but Joltik's permanent +1 would give you a 2d6+2 roll with an Electric attack anyway!
If any of the rolls fail, well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
