"There are options, if we were to backtrack to the Heart's Crag."

[stirtheblood]

So you plannin' on doin' that, or just standin' here starin'?

"..."

Fine, fine. He wordlessly turns around and starts retracing his steps towards Heart's Crag.

[stirtheblood]

Heh. Guess we'll be back soon! Try not to die in the meantime.

[Vicious offers that to the injured people in the hole before turning to follow the Shadow.]

[derailer]

Terrible day when Vicious is being the good cop in the rescue team.

Ingo's Shadow retraces their steps partway, and then veers off towards the river, down a slope to stop on an icy "beach". Some Rufflets are flying over from the far shore, spotting the intruders.

The Shadow turns to Vicious to see if Vicious will do anything about them first.

[stirtheblood]

Eh, those ones? Those gonna be strong enough to carry 'em out?

[derailer]

"...If we want to find something better, we have to cross the river, which is its own problem. Do you think you can swim?"

[stirtheblood]

How'm I s'posed to know? Do you think I can swim?

[derailer]

"Probably. Do you want to? It's going to be freezing cold."

[stirtheblood]

It's already freezin' cold.

[derailer]

Hmmm. Vicious isn't going to get sick from being freezing and wet, probably.

"All right. So try it. Or don't. I suppose my path is set now either way."

As for the Shadow, true to his title, he steps forward, fades into the air, and then reappears on the far shore just as easily.

[stirtheblood]

—Hey! That's cheatin'! Why're ya even walkin' this whole way if ya can just do that?!

[He yells. Then sighs, looking up.]

...Whaddaya wanna do, Litten?

[derailer]

Litten definitely doesn't like the look of the freezing cold river, digging his claws in deeper in apprehension.

The Shadow decides to just keep walking inland to find a good Pokemon to catch, since apparently he has to be the one to catch it anyway.

[stirtheblood]

Well, whatever. Let's go play with the small ones 'til he gets back.

[He's gonna go fight a Rufflet.]

[derailer]

Yeah! That sounds way more reasonable!! Litten calls out to attract the attention of a Rufflet—easily incited to aggression, the Rufflet flies over.

Litten may not have anything super-effective, and he's still hurt, but he's gained a couple levels by now. He can still manage a 2d6+2 for this roll.

[stirtheblood]

[He only gets a 9 on this one. It's a somewhat interesting fight! Much more fun than trying to swim across a river.]

[derailer]

Litten takes another point of damage from the aerial attacks, and the Rufflet flees to nurse his wounds and his singed feathers, unable to be recruited.

The Shadow appears beside you. "I have acquired a Gardevoir."

[stirtheblood]

Geh—what, already? What's that one...?

[Vicious looks around the Shadow like maybe he will see a Gardevoir hanging on his back like a backpack.]

[derailer]

He tosses a ball on the ground and an alpha Gardevoir comes out. She is 8'05" tall.

"Gardevoir has Psychic abilities."

[stirtheblood]

[That is 2'05" taller than Vicious. Maybe slightly less with the heels on his boots.]

Whoa! That's a big one! You beat 'er??

[derailer]

"Mmm. I suppose I'll go rescue the missing people, then." He starts heading in that direction, allowing Gardevoir to glide behind him.

[stirtheblood]

You s'pose? Ain't that the whole reason ya came out here?

[Vicious follows.]

[derailer]

"And I'm doing it, aren't I? Don't quibble with my attitude."
